Chris Ballard “Excited” About Colts Wide Receivers
July 20, 2017 04:40 PM | Kevin Bowen

INDIANAPOLIS - All things considered, it would be hard to find a Colts' position group with more quality depth than the wide receivers.

Coming into 2017, the receivers had plenty of potential and Chris Ballard added to that with the signing of Kamar Aiken in free agency.

After the offseason program concluded in June, Ballard joined the fan club of the receivers.

Here's a closer look at what Ballard likes about the wideouts:

> T.Y. Hilton: Ballard like what he saw from the NFL's top receiver in 2016. Hilton is obviously the leader of this group as he further establishes himself as one of the game's top pass catching weapons.

> Donte Moncrief: Probably the star of the spring program, Moncrief is healthy and impressing entering a contract year. The Colts have a clear picture at the top of their wide receiver depth chart: 1. Hilton, 2. Moncrief.

> Kamar Aiken: Rounding out the wideout group behind Hilton and Moncrief has not been decided. Ballard says the Colts will see more out of Aiken, a more physical option, in the coming weeks.

> Phillip Dorsett: Ballard saw flashes from Dorsett, when the former first-round pick was healthy this spring. Dorsett is not locked into a spot on the depth chart. He will compete with several names for the third, fourth or fifth receiver position.

> Chester Rogers: The arrow continues to point up for Rogers. Ballard loved what he saw from Rogers this spring. What Rogers showed has placed him firmly in the discussion for the open wideout reps, alongside Aiken and Dorsett.

> Quan Bray: Known for his return ability, Bray is now healthy after an ankle injury ended his 2016 season in October. Can Bray do enough as a receiver to earn another roster spot?

Other receivers on the 90-man roster entering Training Camp: Harvey Binford, Chris Briggs, Fred Brown, Bug Howard, JoJo Natson and Tevaun Smith.
